African Mask or Kris Plant is a type of Alocasia hailing from the subtropical regions of Asia. These plants get there nickname from closely resembling the ceremonial tribal masks of Africa. With proper care and humidity the fascinating foliage of African masks can grow quite large!
Plenty of bright indirect light is required. East and south facing windows with a sheer covering or obstructions in front to block any direct light create the perfect environment. Alocasia like be moderately moist. Water thoroughly until water flows from the bottom. discard any extra water if any has accumulated at the bottom. Allow the first 1-2 inches dry out between waterings. Make sure not to let them completely dry out.
These plants enjoy warmth and humidity. Average room temperature is fine for African mask however they enjoy it a bit warmer as long as there is adequate humidity. Wiping leaves occasionally with Ash&Fig Mineral Feed will help with foliage growth and pest repelling.
